Not a Joke

No. I'm not here to tell you an April's Fool joke. Frankly, what's happening in our world is not even remotely funny - and I have an offbeat sense of humor. So, I'll tell you about a bridge. A cantilever bridge, to be exact.
Cantilever Bridge
Think of a diving board. One end is anchored. From this base, a horizontal "board" extends. A person can bounce up and down on the board, especially at the end, and it will be held fast at the anchor point/base.
That's not going to work for a bridge, though. A car would drive out on the horizontal deck and then what? Plunge to the depths?
Imagine two cantilever structures, meeting with a gap in between. Then, imagine a straight truss bridge used to "bridge" the gap.
Now, a vehicle can make its way from one base to the other by passing over the joining truss bridge.
Ta Da!
